The Benefits of Bats

Students were challenged to use their Extension Block to study a topic of interest and to teach what they have learned to their classmates.  This student decided to research the beneficial aspects of having bats in her neighborhood.  In addition to this Google Presentation, she also built two bat houses with her father to be mounted in her yard.

Reflection:
I decided to learn about bats after I learned that we had some in our back yard and my dad said they were good because they eat the mosquitoes.  I researched bats in the library and online and decided to build bat houses in addition to making my presentation.  Mr. Callahan taught us not to put the part we read on the screen and to use more pictures so I revised my project before I showed it to the class.

I learned a lot about bats and food webs on this project.  The best part was showing the bat house to the class.  I think everyone should know more about how bats help people.
